"Planning Investigations in 7th Grade"
Author: David Grossman, @tksciguy
David Grossman’s honest voice in his reflections is always encouraging. In this post, he provides great insight into a plan that wasn’t all he hoped it to be, but the identification of the silver lining leaves us all encouraged on “those” days.
- If something is not working, it doesn’t mean you have to give them the answer. Varying the strategy to change the perspective can allow students to make the meaning rather than receive it.
- NGSS implementation is a journey and will continue to change as we receive students with NGSS experience.
I can't help but look towards the future when students come to 7th grade with a background in "doing" and "thinking" science instead of just learning about it. Experiences like this will flow smoothly as students will have had practice throughout their science careers.
